From 18th to 20th October 2017, the 63rd Urology Congress of the Czech Urological Society with an international participation took place. This time the conference was held in the Parkhotel in the Pilsner quarter Bory, where it returned after 10 years.
The Bory quarter is known mainly due to the Prison Bory, which „accommodated “also many Czech giants. This year, for the first time, the European Urology Society (EAU) has decided to merge the traditional Central European Urology Conference (CEM – the 17th edition of the Central European Meeting) with a national conference to enable to see top European urologists also at the national level in the countries of our region.
At our stand, we had the opportunity to present the material of the Porgés division, particularly the Detour Extra-Anatomical Stent, the unique one-time suction-rinse Elefant and other endourological products.
In addition to active addressing of the Congress participants, urologists and urologic nurses, we also had the opportunity to reach out to readers with the quarterly “Urology in praxis”, that was distributed to all participants. In this issue we published an article – a commented case report on the Detour extra-anatomical stent with reference to PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s.
The urological congress had a high turnout also thanks to the international participation of urologists from abroad.
Porgés Division
Just like every year, also this year on 22nd October we took part in the Day of Health / STOB at the Primary School Rakovského in Prague-Modřany. This event is for everyone who wants to lead a healthier life, get rid of excess weight and does not know how to do it. It is also intended for those in need of control who want to check every year their body condition, body fat mass and glycaemic values.
The reason for our Diabetes Care division’s participation in this event was the last indicator. The interested visitors were assisted by the nurses from Advantis Medical, who performed blood glucose measurements. We responded to all queries about the measured values.
We introduced a new blood glucose meter CONTOUR PLUS ONE, which ensures extremely accurate and reliable measurement, and shows whether the measured value is above, below, or within a pre-set target value.
PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP’s stand visited about 300 candidates interested in blood glucose measurement, there were about 5 referrals to visit the doctor as the measured blood glucose was higher than recommended.
Our participation in the event was perceived very positively by both the visitors and organizers. We will gladly participate again next year.
Diabetes Care Division
Traditionally, the conference of Náchodské interdisciplinary days took place from 18th to 20th October. This year it was already its 12th run. The conference was organized under the auspices of MVDr. P. Bělobrádek, Ph.D., Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Research and Innovation. PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s. actively participated in the conference by its divisions Intensive Care Medicine, Surgical Program, Advanced Wound Management and Pharma.
The participants of the conference are professionals in the respective fields of the East Bohemian holding. Our co-operation is perceived very positively. We demonstrated possibilities of the further development of our cooperation and strengthened our long-standing relationships.
Intensive Care Medicine Division
From 5th to 7th October 2017, a diabetes congress focused on new technologies in the treatment of diabetes was held at the Congress Centre in Pilsen. The event was organized under the auspices of the Czech Diabetes Society with the professional guarantee of Professor MUDr. Zdeněk Rušavý, Ph.D.
PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s. actively participated in this conference by its Diabetes Care Division. At our stand we presented the blood glucose meter CONTOUR PLUS ONE along with its mobile application for the CONTOUR DIABETES device.
The interest in our innovative self-monitoring technology has been great and we believe it will bring us other satisfied patients as well as a growing prestige in the field of diabetes care.
Diabetes Care Division
In the days from 4th to 5th October 2017, an educational workshop with foreign participation on the topic of extra-anatomical Detour stent was held.
MUDr. Andrzej Wrona from Poland visited the Czech Republic. MD. Wrona has experience with implantations of 26 Detour extra-anatomical stents. There were also other participants present such as Paul Lemonie – CEO Porgés and MUDr. Aurimas Macionis from Lithuania, who was trained as a future supervisor of the Extra-Anatomical Stent for the Republic of Lithuania.
The program was divided into two days. The social section took place on October 4th where we discussed the individual patients’ cases and compared the work conditions in the individual regions. On 5th October, a surgery day was held.
The team of MUDr. Petra Klézla / Urology Clinic of FNKV was present and also the doctors from other workplaces accepted invitation to the workshop: MUDr. Milan Čermák / Department of Urology, Faculty Hospital, ÚVN, MUDr. Otakar Mareš / the Head of Urology at the Bulovka Hospital and the Head of Urology Clinic FNHK MUDr. Josef Košina.
By this activity we managed to operate on 2 patients, to whom we returned a better life without permanent nephrostomy. At the same time, this event had a high social impact for PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s. and the PORGES division, as the director of FNKV Doc. MUDr. Robert Grill attended the workshop and found it very interesting. We managed to bring together 3 important Prague urological workplaces and one of Hradec Králové and inspire them to the Porgés products.
Porgés Division
On Tuesday, 17th October 2017, our IRK division, after long preparations and training of physicians and healthcare professionals of the Department of Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and IKEM Coronary Unit experienced the first implantation of the smallest heart pump Impella CP from Abiomed. The operation was performed by the lead physician of the Department of Interventional Cardiology, MUDr. Michal Želízko, CSc.
Impella CP is intended to stabilize hemodynamic of the patient’s blood circulation by pumping blood from the left ventricle into the aorta by a flow rate of up to 3.7 l / min, thereby supporting blood circulation in reduced left ventricular function. Impella is used in high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and for cardiogenic shock conditions (CS).
This miniature pump is stored in a 14F catheter and was inserted through the patient’s right thigh into the femoral artery. Implantation of Impella CP lasted 25 minutes, including the preparation of the entry into the groin and ended without any complications.
Benefits of this device were appreciated not only by doctors, in a complicated PCI intervention in which they performed transluminal angioplasty of the main stem of the left coronary artery with the introduction of stents, but also by the patient who had been hemodynamically stable during the operation. In Europe is the approved duration of implanted Impella CP in the patient’s body maximum of 5 days.
IRK division
In the days of 23rd and 24th September 2017 our Medical Technology Division participated as an exhibitor in the Veterinary Congress VETclasses 2017 held at the ALDIS Congress centre, a.s. Hradec Králové.
At our exhibition stand we introduced ultrasonic devices for veterinary practice HITACHI-ALOKA Alpha 7 and Arietta 60. We have also presented a new type of ultrasonic device – Apogee 2100 – from the SIUI product line. The visitors of our exhibition stand have shown a great interest in these devices. This fact should help us to further develop business opportunities and build on the success within our current portfolio at the Czech veterinary market.
Medical Technology Division
In the days from 28th to 30th September 2017, the annual Čechova ultrasound conference was held in the Clarion Hotel Olomouc. The conference was attended by gynaecologists from all over the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Our Medical Technology Division traditionally took part with the aim to introduce ultrasound devices from Aloka-Hitachi’s product portfolio to doctors. At our exhibition stand we presented the upper-scale devices AVIUS and ARIETTA 70. Attendees have shown a great interest in these devices. Through our participation in this conference, we have expanded the range of our potential customers in the field of gynaecology.
The organizer of the Congress was the head physician of the Centre for Foetal Medicine and Ultrasound Diagnostics of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinique of the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and the General University Hospital in Prague – Professor MD. Pavel Calda, PhD., who is a recognized expert in his field.
Medical Technology Division
From the 7th to 9th September 2017, the XXIV. Congress of the Czech Society of Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Medicine (ČSARIM) was held in Brno Exhibition Centre. ČSARIM is a voluntary professional scientific organization that brings together doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff involved in emergency medicine, anaesthesiology, intensive and resuscitation care.
This year’s run is held on the 170th anniversary of the first administration of the general anaesthesia in Bohemia and Moravia. Traditionally, all the basic field topics – anaesthesia care in all its contexts, perioperative medicine, intensive care and pain management – have been discussed. Congress was attended not only by physicians but also by the professional public.
The congress program was divided into a medical and nursing part. Lectures, workshops, or discussions on intensive medicine topics were taking place in five different halls and 1 poster area.
At our stand, we were able to support and present products from the existing portfolio and also to introduce our new products. In our Intensive Medicine Division, there are mainly the products of Biometrix and SINAPI manufacturers – central venous and arterial catheters, permanent urinary temperature-sensing catheters, chest drainage, chest suction, etc. Currently, there are also new products for airway management.
