As every year, Smith & Nephew organized their annual distributors meeting. This year the meeting was held at Bucharest, Romania from 15th to 17th January. PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s. was for the first time represented in the both wound management and also in orthopaedics and sports medicine. The whole meeting ended with a gala dinner, in which the best distributors for 2017 were announced.

The 15th Conference of Acute Cardiology, held by the Czech Association of Acute Cardiology, took place at the Spa Hotel Thermal in Karlovy Vary from 3rd to 5th December 2017.
The program included lectures on pre-hospital and hospital acute and intensive cardiac care. As a part of the program, before the actual congress started, there was also an Ultrasound Diagnostic Course at the ICU and a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Workshop.
PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s. was the silver partner of this conference. Our Division of Intervention Radiology and Cardiology participated in the conference as an exhibitor. On our stand, we presented short-term cardiac support – left side Impella CP, Impella 5.0 and right side Impella RP. Since one of the conference topics was mechanical heart support for short-term and long-term use, our Impella has excited a great attention not only of interventional cardiologists, but also of cardiac surgeons and perfusionists.

PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s. has been working on the relationship with our business partners for 26 years, not only in the business, but also as the friends … we try to help the hospitals with various projects.
This year, during the pre-Christmas season, we joined forces with the academic painter Romana Andělová, the author of illustrations for children’s books and cartoon series, and created gifts in the form of bed linen for children’s departments of our partner hospitals.
In the Strakonice and Jihlava hospitals, fabulous characters from the Bimbule planet – Krkouni inhabited the children’s beds. We handed the presents over together with Mrs. Andělová in the departments of small patients and thanked the leadership of both hospitals for their current collaboration.
And given that Krkouni are very popular also in the hospitals, we plan to continue with more projects in the next year.
Like every year, November surfs on the wave of diabetes and struggle with this insidious condition. This year’s run is special by its focus on “Women and Diabetes”. Everyone knows at least 10 women and statistically at least one of them suffers from diabetes. Worldwide, there live over 199 million women with diabetes and the expected increase in 2040 is even higher – around 313 million.
Therefore,Ascensia Diabetes Care has collected 30 portraits of women from around the world that were hand-drawn by foreign artists on graphic tablets. This initiative aims to highlight the crucial contribution of women in the diabetes treatment. These are portraits of women who contributed as scientists, healthcare professionals, educators, and tireless advocates of diabetes awareness. One of these women is our colleague Marcela Kratochvílová, Event Manager and lecturer of PROMEDICA INSTITUT.
To support diabetes awareness, PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s., decorated its meeting room with the portraits of women from all over the world.

We are pleased to inform you that thanks to a great team, our Medical Technology Division has completed installation of three new X-ray devices at the Kyjov Hospital’s radio diagnostic department in a record time.
Two sciagraphic X-ray machines of the leading manufacturer Carestream – DR Evolution Plus with direct X-ray image digitization were installed and put into operation for the purpose of sciagraphic examinations. For the sciascopy and angiographic examinations, the sciascopic-sciagraphic GMM Opera SWING has been installed. It excels with the cutting-edge design, great variability of tilting movement ensures the safe and easy execution of routine and specialized examinations.
We trust that our machines will serve both patients and staff well and contribute to the smooth running of the entire department.

On October 26, 2017, the Orthopaedics Division participated as an exhibitor in the Congress SAVING SURGERY AND ARTROSCOPY OF THE HIP JOINT WITH THE LIVE ARTROSCOPIC HIP SURGERY held in the Angelo Hotel Plzeň. The Congress was organized by the Clinic of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Faculty Hospital Plzeň on the occasion of the anniversary of its foundation. Faculty Hospital Plzeň is our VIP client in the field of arthroscopy as well as the training centre of Smith & Nephew.
PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a.s was the gold partner of this event.
A unique live arthroscopic hip surgery was performed by MUDr. Zeman Petr, PhD. from Faculty Hospital Plzeň, who is one of the leading professionals in his field and is also a trainer in the arthroscopy field for Smith & Nephew.
At our exhibition stand we introduced surgical instruments, implants and devices for this type of surgery. Smith & Nephew are the only supplier of the comprehensive portfolio in the country for these types of performance. Despite the highly specialized theme, a high number of physicians was present and the visitors of our exhibition stand showed a great interest in the exhibited products.
Division of Orthopaedics
From 24th to 25th October 2017, under the auspices of the Governor JmK, the Director of the Faculty Hospital Brno and on behalf of the KHS Brno Director, the 13th International Congress STERIL.CZ. took place at the BVV Congress Centre in Brno. This traditional educational and social event is a part of the medical week- the Medical Summit in Brno and is carried out under the auspices of the Czech Society for Sterilization (CSS).
This year’s run was attended by 205 duly registered participants from all over the Czech Republic, Germany, Colombia and Slovakia. The meeting also featured 45 CSS contractual partners – companies producing, importing or selling medical devices, or products and goods related to decontamination, disinfection or sterilization of the medical devices.
Our disinfection and sterilization division had a good opportunity to meet informally at our stand with a significant part of the professional public and the representatives of the hospitals. During these two days, we have also conducted a number of business meetings with our suppliers and partners.
in addition to a good organization of the event, most of the participants could enjoy very high attendance of visitors and exhibitors.
We are looking forward to our meeting next year!
Disinfection and Sterilization division
From 19th to 21st October 2017, an annual conference of the Czech Society of Sports Medicine was held in Imperial Hotel Ostrava, in cooperation with the Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine of the Czech Medical Association JEP and the Association of Young Rehabilitation Physicians. The conference was attended by physicians and physiotherapists from all over the Czech Republic.
Our Medical Technology Division participated in the event with its own stand. We introduced the HITACHI Noblus ultrasonic device and the innovation from the SIUI product portfolio – Apogee 2100. Exhibited ultrasound devices attracted not only physicians but also physiotherapists. We believe that our participation in this conference will help us to succeed also in this medical discipline.
