Discussions in Thomayer Hospital

With the arrival of Spring, we managed to start cooperation between a non-profit organization Lékořice Z.S. and the Czech Spitfire Club. The first shared events took place on 21st and 23rd March at the Thomayer Hospital. The Czech Spitfire Club was represented by its chairman, Mr. Zdeněk Sadecký, who prepared discussion about the history of aviation from simple gliders, hot air balloons over the warplanes to the most recent transport airplanes. The program was not only about telling the story but also about the creativity of children that in the course of discussions produced simple models of Spitfire.

According to the amount of questions and comments, it was obvious that the present children were interested in the topic. They had a fun and at the same time learned a little about Czechoslovak pilots from the World War II. Ing. Sadecký managed during his lecture to mention the machines flown by our airmen, flight training and problems with which the pilots often struggled during their service to homeland.

Children are usually hospitalized at Children’s Hospital Psychiatry Ward for the period from 3 to 6 weeks. During their stay in the hospital they have morning school education and in the afternoon there are either games organized by the therapists or their parents’ visit. Discussions therefore presented a pleasant change compare to otherwise normal program.

Prague Workshop on Catheter Ablation with Live Demonstrations

The main organizers of this event of global scale were Professor. MD. Josef Kautzner, PhD., FESC, Head of Cardiology Department of IKEM and Professor MD. Petr Neužil, PhD., FESC, Head of Cardiology Department, Hospital Na Homolce.

The central topic of discussion was the new strategy in catheterization treatment of atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmias. In this event, a series of 15 live transmissions from the catheter operation theatres from the both workplaces in Prague as well as an international broadcast from Cardio center in Leipzig and the Cardiology Hospital in Bordeaux took place.

One of these live broadcasts was also held with representatives of the manufacturer STEREOTAXIS in the Hospital Na Homolce where their device was used. PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, as. is an exclusive distributor of this manufacturer for the Czech Republic.

The workshop also served as an informal professional forum and a place for new meetings more or less experienced professionals involved in this issue. Thus the mission that the organizers set at the beginning was fulfilled – to promote this method of treatment for cardiac arrhythmia and development of international cooperation.
