Museum RAF in Police

One of the long-term projects of the Czech Spitfire Club is the foundation of the RAF Museum. In the Czech Republic, you can already find local expositions on this topic, but the Museum Air Marshal RAF Karel Janoušek, KCB in the Police (or RAF Museum in Police) near Moravské Budějovice is proud to be the first of its kind thanks to its national reach and importance. The opening ceremony was held on June 17, 2017.

This project aims not only to ensure the operation and development of long-term exhibition, but mainly the placement of medallions of all about 2500 Czechoslovak RAF personnel. It aims to retain the memory of those who entered the British Royal Air Force during the World War II to fight for our freedom, be it in the ranks of pilots, aircrew or ground personnel.

PROMEDICA PRAHA GROUP, a. s. supports the activities of the Czech Spitfire Club and the opening of the museum is no exception. Therefore, we paid a short visit to the chairman of the club, Mr. Zdeňek Sadecký. We visited a museum where we undoubtedly received the best interpretation of exposed exhibits. Mr. Sadecký is indeed an expert and can attract a listener.

On this occasion, we also visited the Jihlava airport, where we had the chance to take a look at the Piper L-4 aircraft. The second long-term project of the Czech Spitfire Club, which we support, is the construction of a fully functional aircraft of this type. You can see more technical parameters and photos here.

The full calendar and words of Mr. Sadecký prove that the Czech Spitfire Club is really not idling. On Saturday, August 26, the Day of Czech History was held in Křivosoudov. The event with motto “Stop the Tyrant!” was conducted in the spirit of the 75th anniversary of the assassination of Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich. The program was really varied. The centre of Czech history exhibited large-format paintings based on the book trilogy by Jaroslav Čvančura. Thanks to the participation of the Army of the Czech Republic, visitors could see military equipment and field kitchen. A real attraction were the helicopter parachutists and the action fighting scenes (arrests of participants of resistance, clashes with the Gestapo).

Mrs. Jarmila Doležalová, born Šťulíková (71), who survived the Nazi rampage in the village of Ležáky as a child, was an honourable guest of the event. At the age of 3 years she was forcibly placed in a German family for re-education. After the war, however, she returned to her native land. Our colleague, Marcela Kratochvílová, had the opportunity to meet and shortly speak with the lady.

The Czech Spitfire Club organizes or participates in a truly praiseworthy number of events during the year. So do not hesitate to take part in some of them or visit a museum in Police in the Třebíč region.
